Poppy Gazette: HERE'S WHAT WE'RE DIGGING: VOLUME 130
Posted on 03/09/2023 in Uncategorized.
Hi! What are you up to this week? We made homemade pizzas and drank martinis while shopping obsessively online for new jeans and shoes. The pizza and martinis were a raging success – jeans and shoes…still TBD. Anyway, here’s a few things we’ve been digging lately…
1. Palm Springs IS the bachelor/ette party capital of the world (ok, maybe not verified, but still). If you happen to be planning a special fete for your bette – we are loving this super-packable balloon set to spruce up your Poppy pad in paradise and show the besties what you’re made of.
2. If you’re like us and always think of things too late, consider this a sign. Maisonette has the most adorable Bailey Bunny newborn set just in time for Easter. What’s cuter than a newborn? A newborn in a bunny suit of course.
3. If dry January taught us anything, it’s to scour the internet for delicious non-alcoholic cocktails in a can. Enter Parch: A non-alcoholic agave cocktail with 2 flavors – Prickly Paloma and Spiced Pinarita. Both draw inspiration from the lush biodiversity of Mexico, The Sonoran Desert and southwestern US. Yum.
4. “In the cobalt and cream-striped onesie, we have Shrader – an 8-lb Dachsund wearing an XS Picasso Sweatshirt from our fave four-legged purveyor Little Beast.” Now go fetch.
5. Everyone kept telling us that we were insane because we hadn’t yet tried @crumblcookies and then we did and our lives were forever changed. Lucky for you, when you book your stay with us, you’ll be able to run over to the new location in Palm Desert and stuff your face to your hearts content. They. Are. That. Good.
6. This month’s newest Poppy property is a good one – Knott’s Landing. Originally built by the Knott Family (Knott’s Berry Farm) in 1968-1970 as their Palm Springs hideaway, Knott’s Landing is situated in one of Palm Springs most desirable neighborhoods. Step back in time and bask in the wonderful Mid-Century Modern Architecture.
7. Sunscreen envy means 100% Mineral, Broad Spectrum SPF 30 with 20% Non-Nano Zinc, Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide sun protection wrapped up in a chic and sunny package. Nécessaire The Sunscreen packs a heavy punch to protect your skin, reduce fine lines and wrinkles and help support the skin’s protective barrier.
8. This year we bought everyone travel journals for the holidays. It’s the perfect way to remind someone to take a moment to themselves, book that long-awaited, much deserved trip and just bask in….well, nothing. Take along this thoughtful travel journal on your next stay with us and find your balance once again.
9. If you’re looking to add some MCM flair to your interior decor, we love this Shaken Not Stirred print by Peter Ruck. Place it over a bar in any room where you socialize for an easy way to bring a little Palm Springs into your everyday life.
10. Did you know that Palm Springs shares many geographical similarities to Morocco? Kind if makes sense why all those Moroccan rugs look so damn good in our mid-century mod homes. If you want a little inspiration and your #shelfiesneed a pick-me-up, try this little number from eclectic fashion-crowd fave book publisher, Assouline.
That’s all for now…

HERE'S WHAT WE'RE DIGGING: VOLUME 128
Posted on 01/19/2023 in Uncategorized.
Hi! How’s your week going? Don’t know about you, but we have our new year positivity antennas vehemently circling for anything happy, prosperous & peaceful…Do you feel the same? Anyway, here’s a few things we’ve been digging lately…
1. Machete is always on point with their heirloom-quality jewelry and accessories that also function as go-to, everyday staples. We are so digging everything catty lately and these Suzy Sunnies in Tortoise Checker keep us right in line. There’s nothing better than throwing on shades and immediately glowing up sans makeup or care.
2. For many of you, it’s the depths of real, cold, blustery winter – which means dry, parched skin and deep thoughts about what day it was when you last saw the sun. Our trick? Combat the winters blues with a little bronzer and some freckle paint from Saltyface – our favorite sustainable summer in a bottle brand. We promise you will feel just a little extra pep in your most-fabulous step.
3. Tooting our own horn a little bit here, but we are SO excited about all of the amazing new homes we have added to our portfolio here at Poppy. Check out one of our newest members of the family: Pink Mirage. It’s the ultimate in grammable, sophisticated luxury and may just be the ultimate cure to seasonal affective disorder. Doctors orders – book stat. (jk about the doctors orders…)
4. Looking for a new(ish) place to wine and dine the clan in town? Next stop Porta Via Bar & Bistro in Palm Desert. A neighborhood restaurant with a world class feel, chic decor and El Paseo central for pre and post lunch, brunch or dinner shopping.
5. #Locallove Del Rey at The Villa Royale is the off-the-beaten-path, dark, small & moody tapas bar & restaurant that you’ve been looking for. Perfect for after dinner nightcap and the local restaurant crews tend to come here after their shifts so you know it’s good…
6. Dry January might mean you’re thinking about your first drink in February. If that’s the case – get prepared and keep it classy with this classic Martini Shaker from Godinger. A $25 investment to raise the stakes in your home cocktail bar game.
7. Winter, spring, summer fall – every single day we are loving Supergoop!
Superscreen Daily Moisturizer Sunscreen SPF 40 PA+++. We love it because it’s reasonably-priced and packed with everything we need to stop worrying about protecting our skin. A win win.
8. Just a Slim Aarons photograph to inspire your next Palm Springs poolside party. Dress the part and invite your best friends over for some hot fun in the summertime. It’s how we do it in Palm Springs. Get inspired with this book.
9. We’re obsessed with these Alma clogs and vow to never take them off. 10 colors, not too high, thank you Free People.
10. Coachella 2023 is fast approaching (April 14-16 and April 21-23) and with Frank Ocean as the headliner it’s should be pretty epic. Get on the waitlist for passes here and find the perfect place to stay here. You’ll thank us later for reminding you early.
That’s all for now…

Top 5 Things to do in Palm Springs with your Family
Now that school is out indefinitely, finding things to do is always a top priority. This is even more challenging in this unprecedented time with all major attractions and parks closed. If you are looking to escape the city and hunker down at home in a private vacation rental, Palm Springs might be the best destination yet. You can get plenty of sunshine and outdoor fun while still maintaining social distancing rules. Even better, all our vacation homes have private backyards and pools and enough space for the whole family. You know what that means? Vacation doesn’t have to stop when the kids go to bed (i.e. No more hiding under the covers watching Netflix at 8 p.m. with headphones)!
Come on down to Palm Springs and make some memories. Here are our top 5 things you can do while staying in Palm Springs this spring.
Go for a walk in the neighborhood.
Palm Springs is known for having some of the best architecture in the world. Plan your very own Modernism Week tour with the family and take a tour of all our amazing neighborhoods. Did you know we have 44 neighborhoods and districts in our city?

Bike Ride the CV Link
The newly opened CV link V Link is an award-winning pathway that allows pedestrians, bicyclists, and low-speed electric vehicles (including golf carts) on a dual pathway. Starting off of Vista Chino in Palm Springs, you and your family can cruise our bicycle friendly city and hop on the CV link to enjoy incredible views of the valley.
Take a hike
Greater Palm Springs has some of the best hiking in the world. From backcountry trails to easily accessible routes, all of them have something uniquely beautiful to offer. We found four of the best family- friendly hikes in our Oasis of natural beauty, all of which are easy treks and four miles or less.
Check out our full list of favorite hikes here.
Enjoy the stars and our dark sky ordinance
Grab a blanket and spread out in your private backyard to gaze at the stars. With minimal light pollution and our dark sky ordinance in Palm Springs, it’s easy to pick out the constellations.

Throw in the fact that Palm Springs sees over 300 days of sun per year and it’s official – the hottest spot for a Girl’s Getaway Weekend is Palm Springs, California!
Any good girl’s weekend includes at least the following 3 activities: a morning of brunch and shopping, an afternoon at the spa, and a night out. Here are our top places to visit and a few insider tips to help you craft a Palm Springs weekend that you and your girls will never forget.
A Morning of Brunch & Shopping
Wilma & Frieda’s
With 2 locations in the valley (the flagship store in Palm Desert and the “big brother” location in Palm Springs), there’s always a Wilma and Frieda’s open for an incredible breakfast, lunch or dinner. We’re especially fond of Kim’s Banana Caramel French Toast and the Short Ribs Eggs Benedict. Add a mimosa or Bloody Mary and you have the perfect brunch on your hand.
The Shops at Thirteen Forty-Five
The Shops at Thirteen Forty-Five boast an eclectic mix of Palm Springs finds, cactus themed décor and mid-century modern furnishing for your home.
